Book and Map Upcycling Origami...

My friend Sue had told me that The Lovely Things Summer Fair was on this weekend so yesterday Maud and I managed to venture down the road to Havant for a bit..

I managed to find an emergency £10 to take and enjoyed wandering and chatting until the lighting took its toll and brought on yet another migraine... so back to Maud to lie down and wait for the tablets to kick in before I could drive us both home.

I'm so glad that I actually remembered to take my camera because I really want to share with you the creativity of a lovely woman called Mei... the Origami Whizz...

Upcycling books...

I've not seen anyone doing this before... I think they are beautiful... an interesting gift to commission for a special person...

Little Origami Heart Trees...

Also sweet little flowers on twigs...

and my personal favourite... little paper flowers enclosing  battery power lighting...

Please do pop over to see Mei's Etsy shop here

Sadly I didn't have enough cash to buy a set of map lights... but I will be nipping down to Southsea just as soon as I can to get some because I think they will be perfect in Maud...

Other things that caught my eye...

I rather liked the little spiky hedgehog and the chicken...

Well made linen lovelies by Dangly Heart..

I bought these...

and a little hand painted string tin to cheer the shed up... A bargain I thought for £3.50  and rather well painted by the lovely Karen's Bloomin'Art who can be found on Facebook...

The little Fair takes place in the Havant Art Centre which also had a Vintage Exhibition on... I just love these green shoes !!

And some rather good jewellery in a cabinet very similar to the style I used to make myself... I had intended to photograph some on the way out but felt too sick to focus by then...

Today is another day.... it looks rather beautiful outside and I can hear the Birds chirping and the Bees buzzing but my eyes are still rather sensitive to the light but I am hoping that maybe by late afternoon I might be up to popping up to the allotment and having a cup of tea...

I have lots of plants ready to go in and hope that a friend or two might be able to help me get them into the ground before they get too leggy if you know what I mean...

I do hope you are all able to be out and about doing something that makes your heart sing this weekend....

Sending smiles Cass x

  1. Oh Cass I'm sending stern words to that migraine of yours - rotten things. The fair looks wonderful - the origami is fantastic but I think my favourite pictures are of those shoes - aaaaaah, lovely! Hope you manage to get up to your allotment this afternoon x Jane

    1. They certainly are Jane!... I'm also waking up once or twice a night with headaches from hell when the painkillers wear out... not great! But have managed to pop up to the allotment for a cuppa this week hooray! Smiles Cass x

  2. Hi Cass.....I'm loving maud and so glad you're getting out in her. Take care and don't over do it, I'm just starting to feel more like me after a few days in London, it certainly took its toll. Those books look wonderful, what a great way to use up old books that would probably end up in a landfill. My veg patch looks very sorry for itself, I'm hoping for some energy next week to get planting, hope you got to your allotment sweetheart :) x

  7. Glad Maud has now passed her MOT. It must be so frustrating and painful having so many migraines. I loved the Origami and everything else you spied on your visit to Havant. Sarah x
