And so through the next gate and into the cutting and herb area...

Anyone know what these are above,  I'd rather like some of these...

Turning to the right.. you can see all the lovely wooden green houses and cold frames...

Inside the first Green house... Vines around the side with about 30 different types on Mint on the shelving!

My father was happy to get out of the wind and even took his jacket off...

On the left, various beautiful trained Peaches...

Further on rows of Basil and Heritage Tomatoes...

Gourds...

Loving the old latches, plaques and handles....

And Outside again...

The Hot House was... well... hot...

But that will have to wait till next time...

Thanks for popping by...

A visit to West Dean June 2013 .... part 1

One of my favourite places to visit is West Dean Gardens.

I am so very fortunate that it is only a 10 minute drive away...

My parents were visiting this weekend so we drove over for a visit and took a picnic...

And into the Huge Walled Gardens... I love this gate!

It is well worth a visit at any time of the year...

The walled gardens are so well designed and if ever you want to see how to train and prune then this is the place to go...

At this time of the year it is great because you can really see all the underlying structures...

To the right fruit trees are being trained around metal structures... whilst others are trained along wire structures on the walls... the grass is kept short...

But the whole middle section... has wild meadow flowers and grasses under well maintained trees all edged with box hedging...

I love this place... man working so well with nature....

In the very centre there are paths with deep borders with masses of plants supported with natural wood supports...

I think these structures are quite beautiful...

Next time I'll take you  into the herb and flower picking areas,  green houses and hot houses then through into the vegetable and fruit areas... all organic and stunning!

There are even fabulous old mowers and other tools..

Thanks for popping by...
Till next time.. happy growing...
